Be Notified: PGCo is Hot as Fire

OUCH!!!  My hubster text to say it was 77 degrees upstairs in our house and my cousin Tiffany is moving her going away cookout from 2pm to 6pm.  The weekend is looking bad; certainly I will not be attending the Smithsonian’s Folklife Festival.  No movie at National Harbor for me either.    I’m just going to take it easy this weekend and hope that you do the same.  If you find something interesting going on, be sure to alert me here at the blog.
Notify Prince George’s, which is run by Department of Homeland Security, has text and emailed me regarding the National Weather Service’ s issuance of an Excessive Heat Advisory for the Metropolitan area from 11am to 9pm today, Friday June 29. Excessive heat temperatures of 105 are forecast, with increased humidity.  If you don’t have this service, sign up for it today.  It gives traffic alerts, and all kinds of helpful info. This heat wave is expected to remain in the area through July 5th. Heat Index values are forecast to be 100 degrees the rest of the weekend, and then remain in the upper 90s Monday-Wednesday.
The Department of Parks and Recreation’s Flag Football Championships have been postponed from Saturday, June 30, to Saturday, July 7, due to the extreme heat. Temperatures are predicted to be nearly 120 degrees on the turf field at game time tomorrow.
