Shoppers Food is hiring and having a job fair so sign up! MGM's career showcase puts you on the road to being a hired. I'm SO GEEKED about Prince Georgians having access to a hybrid-sedan service and College Park moving forward with transit oriented development

City Skyline 600 pixelsI am so terribly happy that a car/sedan service along the lines of Uber is available to Prince George’s County residents.  Cabs are always at metro stations but they all could stand to step it up.  Some of those hack cars are held together with bubble gum and the drivers give me hope for getting my drivers license.  Sometimes people don’t straighten up and fly right until they know there’s another bird in the coup.  Enter: Green Tomato Cars

Shoppers Job Fair 2014Complete your online job application by JUNE 5TH so that you can attend the June 12th Shoppers Food job fair.  Takes place at 16901 Melford Blvd, Bowie MD; you must be 18 years of age to attend.  There are NO WALK INS for this job fair.  Apply online by JUNE 5TH to receive a time to be seen at the June 12th job fair.  Thanks to Men Aiming Higher and their partnership with Shoppers Food and Pharmacey for bringing this kind of recruiting to the county.  Online application HERE.

MGM National Harbor 1MGM National Harbor is hiring too! Eventually, like two years from now.  In the meantime, they’re having a job showcase to inform the public of just what kind of positions they’ll need to fill.  The MGM National Harbor Career Showcase will be held at the historic Oxon Hill Manor, 6901 Oxon Hill Rd, Fort Washington, MD 20745,  from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.  RSVP: mdinfo@mgmresorts.com.  “We believe it’s never too early to take steps toward new opportunities. We want to make sure Prince George’s County residents have the information they need to begin preparing for a future career with us,” said Lorenzo Creighton, president and chief operating officer of MGM National Harbor. It is alleged that 50% of MGM’s payroll will have to come from PGCo.

Green Tomato CarsThere is a car service with an app, like Uber, that services Prince George’s County and Montgomery County.  SO COOL!!  London-born Green Tomato Cars crossed the pond to launch service in the Washington area this month, serving the region that includes Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland. The company also runs to and from Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.
Green Tomato Cars, which is classified as a sedan service, has some similarities to Uber, in that customers can seek a ride through a mobile app. Green Tomato Cars also allows you to book a sedan by phone (1-855-686-6286) and online at their website. But it touts an environmentally friendly service, provided by a fleet of hybrid cars. Ricky Moskowitz, co-founder of the Washington operations, said the location was chosen because the company wanted a region on the East Coast of the United States where residents have a great interest in green services.

The soft launch in Washington started in February, but the service fully launched in the week of May 12. Green Tomato Cars  now has about 25 cars in the area, which run at $3 per mile, with a 25 percent discount for customers who use the mobile app. As with similar services, customers can reserve a ride in advance. But they can get a ride at the last minute via mobile app, on the company’s website or over the phone. The company is based in Silver Spring Maryland, 8601 Georgia Avenue.  Check out their website HERE.
