Crimes and Car Accident (Demo)

While the County Executive is touting the virtues of Suitland, Maryland.  Buyability factors for Suitland neighborhoods will hinge on crime rates. On December 7, 2013, at about 3:15 am, patrol officers were called to the 4900 block of Suitland Road for a welfare check. This location is near the Windsor Crossing Apartments; very nice looking development from what I can see. When patrol officers arrived, they found a man lying in a parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.  Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and motive in the case.
handcuffsThings didn’t go well for District Heights this weekend either.  WJLA reported “A Prince George’s County Police officer was shot Saturday night in an exchange of gunfire with a suspect in District Heights, authorities say.  The shooting happened just after 8:45 p.m. in the 6000 block of Parkland Court, Prince George’s County Police officials say. While the shot officer was protected by his bulletproof vest, the suspect was shot in the face and sustained critical injuries.  Both the suspect and the officer were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The officer’s injuries are not considered to be life threatening.  Two other suspects in connection with the shooting were taken into custody.”  At least the suspects were taken off our streets.
In other bad news, there was a horrific traffic accident Saturday Dec. 7th at 11pm on Central Avenue and Shady Glenn Drive in Seat Pleasant, MD. Two people died and six more are in the hospital after a serious car crash Saturday in Prince George’s County.  Two of those hurt are children; both are hospitalized. One is in critical condition and the other is in serious condition.  Police officers had to cut some of the victims out of the vehicle. See video below.  That stretch of Central Avenue can be a bear as I’ve encountered.  Really bad drivers, strange off road vehicles in the street.  Get it together y’all.

I know this is a lot of bad news to take in. It was rough watching the news this weekend.
