District Heights Police Shoot Handcuffed Suspect (Demo)

District Heights Police Department responded to the Corner of County Road and Foster Street to a report of a person
District Heights Police Department officials report the incident happened at around 5:20 p.m. Thursday, near the corner of County Road and Foster Street, when officers arrested Kalvin Kyle on allegations that he stole a motorcycle.  During the course of the arrest, the officer involved in the shooting, Sgt. Johhnie Riley, shot at Kyle because he allegedly tried to escape custody.  Prince George’s County Police officials later confirmed that Kyle was handcuffed when he was shot. He had an open warrant for his arrest when he was taken into custody.  Riley, an 8-year veteran, has been placed on administrative leave pending a full investigation. The District Heights Police Department says it will seek additional charges against Kyle.
Here’s what the neighbors said:  Neighbor with a purple rag on her head said she heard 2 gunshots.  Another neighbor who didn’t want to be on camera (don’t blame her) said that she saw a gentleman (Kyle) jump out the car and start running, a police officer chased the guy but couldn’t catch him.  When the officer couldn’t catch him, the officer threw his night stick at him.  When the night stick missed, the officer pulled out his gun and shot Kyle 3 times.  No one knows what led to the shooting but there are some reports that
Kyle was taken to an area hospital for treatment for a gunshot wound to the back.  He will be turned over to the Department of Corrections upon his release.  Here’s why he’ll be turned over.  Take a peek at his arrest warrant list before you get all warm and fuzzy about lil Kalvin.  If the type is too small, search the Maryland Judiciary Case Search site for Kalvin Kyle; not pretty.
