Retail Coming to Ritchie Station (Demo)

I’m so excited but I’m not going on on a limb for this so this information is from the Washington Business Journal.
“Dave & Buster’s is a maybe for Ritchie Station, but it looks like The Michael Cos. has locked down a trio of big-box retailers for the center: T.J. Maxx, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Modell’s. After a recession-driven stall, the shopping complex appears to be hitting its stride.”
I shop at all of these stores and all these stores will bring jobs to the area.
“The developer of Ritchie Station Marketplace in Capitol Heights is in talks with Dave & Buster’s to open a 40,000-square-foot facility in the growing, Beltway-facing retail center.
“That little tidbit, from Mike Isen, vice president of NAI The Michael Cos. Inc., was among a handful of real estate nuggets to emerge from a daylong tour of Prince George’s County, led by County Executive Rushern Baker, his economic development team and the Economic Development Corp.”

I hope so.
What I would like to know is why was a storage place built right outside of the brick wall surrounding the ritchie station marketplace. What was the point of building a nice and appealing brick wall if your going to block it with a storage center when you already have storage places in every direction from this storage spot?

What I would like to know is when will NAI The Michael Cos. Inc start developing the Karington development located at the intersection of routes 301 and 214 (Central Avenue) in Bowie? Perhaps the developer will partner with another developer so that the people living in the nearby communities will not have to wait another 25 years. There is very little retail in the South Bowie area.

I agree with Dwight, the storage center is an eye sore.

@James I wouldn’t worry too much about Karington, seeing as it’s an exurb development and there’s already unsupported retail not too far north on 301. Let Micheals take its time. Let them fill out their many other existing empty store fronts in built communities, like the Villages of Marlborough.
Let’s focus on making sure that that business that is coming back, is coming back to stable, sustainable markets.

I’d like to see a store like Hobby Lobby or Michaels. I hate leaving Capitol Heights to go to AA and Laurel/Bowie to shop. There are crafters living in Capitol Heights/Seat Pleasant/District Hts and Suitland. We’d (I know I would) like to be able to put money in our areas. Sure would like to see a Blimpie’s here too.

Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Krispy Kreme, Panera and MOMs, would all do well and increase traffic in shopping center.

I really hope to see some nice restaurants coming to this location

and when are you putting a wmata station or garage…

Good evening, who can I speak with in regards to purchasing retail space for this area. This area is a perfect location for my business venture. Feel free to give me a call or email. Thanks so much!

what is being built by Dave and Busters

Not 100% sure but I think a Olive Garden is coming and so is a plus-size store called Catherine’s:

I like the idea of a Olive Garden. Because the food options in this area is not good. Did we need another low budget furniture store, I think not. A movie theatre, Wal-Mart of Kohls would speak to address some of our needs.

A Walmart

It surpose to be a Super Walmart.
