RGIII Blackness Questioned (Demo)

Ya gotta be kidding me, right? ESPN sports journalist and resident idiot Rob Parker questioned whether Robert Griffin III (RGIII) is a real “brother” or is he a “cornball brother.” Parker went on to say, “He’s Black, but he’s not really the guy you want to hang out with.” Parker also mentioned that Mr. Griffin has a white fiance’, is rumored to be a Republican, and questioned his comments on being Black versus being the best in an interview with Chick Hernandez that I’ve included below. In the interview, RGIII emphasizes that he wants to be the best quarterback, not just the best Black quarterback. He recognizes that his success means a lot for Black people; he acknowledges that. Rob Parker actually tried to put him in the same cablanasian cart as Tiger Woods.

Rob Parker and Skip Bayless equate Griffin’s braids with being “urban” and being a “brother.” What kind of tomfoolery is this? It’s so unsettling that this is still going on. Robert Griffin III is Black, Black enough, a Black man, and Black BLACK BLAAAACK!!! Rob Parker is, sadly, saying aloud what some still think: Being a Black male means being an urban stereotype. It’s like when white people assume I have children because I’m a Black woman. The underlying assumption is that I’m a single mother. Honestly, I have experienced that no matter how much a Black person has attained, there are unique experiences that still knit us together, but that doesn’t mean I’m greeting every Black person I encounter with our secret handshake.

UPDATE: ESPN has suspended commentator Rob Parker for comments he made regarding Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.
ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said: “Following yesterday’s comments, Rob Parker has been suspended until further notice. We are conducting a full review.”
Parker, appearing on ESPN’s “First Take” on Thursday, was asked about Griffin’s role as a black quarterback. Parker questioned Griffin’s “blackness.”

What I like about Robert Griffin III is that he’s going on like nothing happened. He is the leader of the Redskins and he’s making this entire region look good. Yes, we pound our chests a little harder because he’s Black, but we Black people recognize, just like with our President, that RGIII is doing his job for the entire team. ESPN is reviewing what to do with Rob Parker. It’s a safe bet that he will lose his job, and rightfully so. Black people don’t need Rob Parker‘s brand of negative reinforcement. I mean seriously, Rob Parker considers that RGIII is not “down for the cause” because he’s the Parker stereotype of a Black man. Quite frankly, Parker is a bit of a nerdy looking thing but I guess he gets a pass because votes Democrat, cusses, talks sports, wears embellished suits, and possibly drinks Ciroc.
