Saturday in PGCo (Demo)

There’s a lot going on in Maryland this weekend.  The Prince George’s County Fair, Maryland Seafood Festival, Taste of Prince George’s County Food & Wine Festival, and a  5k run Electric Run at National Harbor.

ButterflyThe County Fair…stop.  First, as a DC girl, I can’t believe I’m even writing about a county fair, but I digress.  The Prince George’s County Fair opened on Thursday and goes through the weekend.   The fair is being held at Showplace Arena in Upper Marlboro.  See the website HERE for directions.  Hours this Saturday, September 7, 1100AM – 1100PM and Sunday September 8 1100AM – 600PM.  Sunday, September 8th is Military Appreciation Day.  All active duty military and their families will be admitted to the Fair for FREE.  I have yet to attend this shindig but may stop through Saturday with my iPad and live blog so stay tuned to my other social media pages and check me out.  From the web site, there will be cowboy/girl demonstrations, dj music, live bands, carnival rides, a baby contest (do NOT ask me about that), 4-H demonstrations and livestock showings, food, a balloon man, chainsaw artists, and NASCAR simulator and race cars from F.A.M.E. all for the low, low price of $6.00 for 12 years and over, and $5.00 for ages 6-11; Ages 5 and under: Free.  Check out the county fair web site HERE.

Maryland Seafood FestivalThe very thought of the Maryland Seafood Festival is making me hungry Held at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis, MD (1100 E College Parkway), this event features a large line up of musical entertainment (steel band, hip-hop, Cajun/Zydeco, Blues, and more), demonstrations from chefs, craft beer tasting, a crab soup cook off, a Diamond Jim featured fishing expo, and all kinds of food vendors.  Tickets start at $15 per person, general admission and $10 for Senior Citizens/Military, and jump to $55 for VIP individual  and $100 for VIP couple tickets.   Check out their web site for more information. [button link=”http://www.mdseafoodfestival.com/” color=”pink” newwindow=”yes”] Maryland Seafood Festival[/button]

Taste of Prince Georges 2I can’t say enough about the FIRST Taste of Prince George’s County Food and Wine Festival, happening Saturday Sept. 7th at Six Flags.  See the PGC Blog post for all the details.  Saturday inside Six Flags from 12-7pm at The Taste?  Musical performances will feature a diversity of local sounds that include jazz keyboardist and pianist Marcus Johnson, a fusion of soul meets garage with Black Alley, R&B singer Reesa Renee, hip-‐hop/R&B duo The Co-‐Op2, gospel sensations Soul Messengerz and 7 Sons of Soul, progressive rock-‐neo group Future Band, the all-‐female group BelaDona, and the popular rock-‐techno group Bonnie Rash. In addition to featuring the best of the county’s culinary tastes, guests are invited to experience the Tastemakers Lounge. The lounge offers guests the experience of hookahs and hand‐rolled cigars in a plush setting. Attendees are invited to sample an assortment of stations that include wine and cocktail pairings, a DIY Sushi Station, and a Fit and Wellness Pavilion featuring Zumba and Yoga instructions.  Don’t miss out on an array of DJs, renown chefs, and cooking demonstrations.  This is going to be an event to remember.

Electric RunThis Electric Run at National Harbor looks like fun.  These fun runs where there is music, paint, dancing, and lights are rage now.  From the web site:  Along the 5k route music will pump and lights will dance creating a electric wonderland that will keep you energized and moving to the beat. You’ll run, walk, and dance through distinct lands with lights and music custom mixed to match the mood of the lighting elements. You can participate as an individual or as a team. We are passionate about creating an experience that is fun, energizing, and beautiful.  Registration is at the Electric Run web site and is listed as SOLD OUT.  I would go over to National Harbor just to groove to the music.
