Blue pants are too tight on my hips and behind so back to the closet I go. Boobs push this blouse out too far making me look pregnant; can’t wear that. My black slacks that are size 14 are still a little too big and saggy in the wrong places.Whew!
With a work appropriate outfit on, I get on the train and as I’m sitting, I’m feeling a tightness around my chest. Did I mistakenly put on my girdle control camisole? Nope. I’m wearing a regular camisole. The tightness is from my flesh pressing against my shirt in protest for adequate space. I have a meeting today with one of my new bosses. Is he going to notice my shirt seams screaming for air? Why is my entire core section trying to make a guest appearance on the Ceemac show today?
Why? Because I’m getting fat. I’m riding this metro and getting fat.
As my body ages matures, my metabolism rate has decreased while my need for sweets has increased. Yes, I’m working out and yes I eat a mostly healthy diet but I’ve got to become more conscientious and move more. I don’t want to get to that size when fellow metro riders hate to see you coming because the size of your behind is a harbinger of an impending uncomfortably squished ride.
I’ve had many of those rides. In one case, After asserting my space and refusing to acquiesce a third of my seat to one woman’s behind, she actually tried to kick me when I got up to exit the train. I took my big, leather work bag and swung it in her direction. She was appalled. Girl bye!
Metro is law bound to provide access to those with disabilities, and Metro makes public its commitment to ensure that no one is “excluded from participation in or denied the benefits of its services on the basis of race, color or national origin, as provided by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended.
My spreading hips and behind are not covered under said Act and neither are yours.
It’s going to be rough but I’m going to lose some weight. That was my determination this morning as I rode up the escalator. When I reached the sidewalk landing, there were two guys there smiling and passing out promotional postcards. I took the two I was handed and read them on the way to the building.
“Enjoy a cupcake on us!!”
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great post! I know the struggle all too well. My favorite line : “My spreading hips and behind are not covered under said Act and neither are yours” Love it! LOL!!
I feel the same way!!! As I approach my 50’s, (in less than 4 years) I am realizing that I am going to HAVE to eat LESS and move even MORE! But I don’t REALLY care for exercise that much and my love for cheese has grown exponentially!
GOD do I understand this post! LOL
