Water Taxi and Bus to PGCo’s National Harbor (Demo)

Metro proposes ending service from Branch Avenue to National Harbor and starting service from Alexandria, VA to National Harbor.  From one of my favorite blogs Greater Greater Washington, “Two routes serve National Harbor today: the Metrobus express NH1 between the Branch Avenue Metro station and National Harbor, and the Prince George’s County Transit route 35 between Southern Avenue Metro and National Harbor.  Metro’s proposal would instead send the NH1 to King Street station in Alexandria. The distance between National Harbor and Branch Avenue is about the same as to King Street. But King Street is located in a much more vibrant area thaNational Harborn Branch Avenue, meaning guests and residents of National Harbor may find the altered routing of the NH1 more helpful.
Now I’m not a fan of that last sentence but, for now, it’s the truth.
Miss Sophie Potomac Riverboat recently launched a new river taxi route between National Harbor and the National Mall. The water taxi debuted Aug. 31, with a route that begins at National Harbor, stops at the Georgetown waterfront at 31st and K Streets NW and ends near the National Mall/Haines Point.  The taxi is available on the company’s newest vessel, the Miss Sophie, which holds 49 passengers.  It docks at the commercial pier next to McCormick & Schmick’s in National Harbor, at Washington Harbour in Georgetown and lastly at the dock at West Basin and Ohio drives SW, aka Haines Point.  Departure times are: 10 am, 1 pm, 4 pm, 7:30 pm, and 9:30 pm
Miss Sophie leaves National Harbor five times per day Tuesday through Sunday. Ticket prices are: Adults – $30 Roundtrip and $15 one-way Children – $18 Roundtrip and $9 one-way Reservations may be made online, or you may purchase tickets at the National Harbor Ticket booth, based on availability.  Seating is limited so we recommend online purchases.
